Future of Learning Part III: Skills for a New Economy

Leapfrogging the Bottleneck

85 million jobs will be displaced in 20 major economies by 2025, according to the World Economic Forum’s 2020 Future of Jobs Report. At the same time, 97 million new roles are expected to be created, driven by advances in technology and continuous digital transformation. So how can higher education—an industry poised to integrate new skills for learning—remain at the forefront of a changing global workforce?

For our third installment of the Future of Learning series, our panelists will explore the new skills and competencies needed in a changing world; imagine a strategy for continuous learning; and consider the role of industry partnerships with education.

What you'll learn

Working remotely has left many of us feeling isolated. Our research shows that focus and solitary task efficiency are up, but feelings of connection and camaraderie are down. Because of this paradigm shift, we see the workplace evolving to become a destination: a beacon for an organization’s brand, a cultural anchor, a recruitment stage, and a hub that supports connection and mentorship. The shape, size, and feel of the workplace may change—but its role will remain vital to an organization's success.

How do we create connection, attraction, and hospitality in our office environments?
We don't subscribe to one solution for a remote, hybrid, dynamic, or anchored work model. We embrace the need to explore, vet, and iterate ideas to arrive at strategies and solutions tailored to you. In this session, we will build upon Workplace Futures Part I, proposing strategies to support workplace’s evolution.

Key takeaways:

•

Understand how a fluid planning model that supports user effectiveness, autonomy, and choice can help you embrace radical inclusion.

•

Learn how our user personas and survey tool can help you assess your employees’ work styles, patterns, and preferences.

•

Draw best practices from retail environments to adapt workplaces to an experiential, consumer-facing, community-centered model.

•

Explore a day in the life of the “next normal” worker to understand how shifts in engagement, collaboration, and focus.

Future of Learning Series

We hope you'll join us in a year-long exploration of the Future of Learning, drawing on expert speakers in K-12, Higher Education, Workplace, and Innovation.

Part I: Responding to the Pandemic

COVID disrupted the college campus as we knew it, forcing institutions to grapple with a challenging transition to remote learning as well as significant social, politial, and economic issues. The rate of change has been so sudden and all-encompassing, creating unprecedented uncertainty for the future of higher education. In this event, an expert panel of college and university leaders discuss four key topics: the influence of the syndemic on the college campus, de-siloization in higher education, the changing needs of campus space, and the state of campus culture.

Part II: Building a Convergent Future in K-12 and Higher Education

Today’s students require increasing levels of flexibility and resilience to succeed in the world—so how might our traditional education systems evolve accordingly? And, what makes an institution agile in the first place? We know that modern students succeed when they are empowered with practical skills and the opportunity to apply them in real-world situations. They benefit from inclusive and diverse environments that span digital and physical realms. In our ever-changing, tech-forward world, we believe educators and institutions have an opportunity to re-imagine their practices and provide equitable, affordable access to quality education. Taking a cross-sectional view of K-12 and Higher Education, we discuss how the continuum of learning has transformed and how educators at every point on the spectrum can respond to these challenges.
